1)     1) A Hyderabad terrorist Imran arrested in Mumbai. He is staying in Hyderabad for the past 7 years under the garb of a perfume merchant (Eenadu, 10.10.10, p-2).

2)      2)Senior orthopedic surgeon Narendranath of NIMS says that now-a-days 50% of joint surgeries are being performed rather unnecessarily by many hospitals, that too on very young age patients, only to gain money (TOI, 11.10.10, p-4).

3)    3)  Karnataka BJP govt on the brink as many BJP MLAs jump into the cabin of JD(S). On the day of trust vote, Speaker disqualifies 16 such MLAs and BJP just escapes. But still court decision is awaited to make final decision (TOI, 12.10.10, p-1).

4)     4) Micro Finance Institutions are making the life of poor people hell in many districts of A.P. There were at least 17 suspected suicides due to their pressure on people in the past two months. In a cruel incident MFI agents have kidnapped a girl as her mother failed to repay her weekly loan. Police rescued the kid later (TOI, 13.10.10, p-1).

8)      8)China targets Liu Xiobo’s friends who talked in favour of him after he got the noble prize for peace. They are roughed up or house arrested (TOI, 16.10.10, p-18).
