22) A team of Scientists say they created artificial life in lab but India’s premier geneticist P.M.Bhargava denies this. He says that a cell was taken and its DNA was removed and filled with host of other material. But if they can take all the individual components of a cell separately and put them together to create life, then only it can be called a synthetic life. 14) Lashkar-e-Toiba’s terror network in Gulf is very wide say agencies. They had a major role in most of the recent terror attacks in India including 26/11. Many of the members are former SIMI members. 1) Medical Council of India chief Ketan Mehta arrested for demanding huge bribe for sanctioning a medical college. He is found be in possession of assets worth 1800 crores and 1500 kgs of gold (TOI&Eenadu, 25.4.10).
2) Supreme Court gives notice to Orissa govt on illegal mining in forest area (TOI, 27.4.10).
3) State Human Rights Commision chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy severely criticizes the parents of those children who are encouraging their children to dance in vulgar dresses in reality shows. He also warns the TV channels against such programs (Eenadu, 27.4.10).

It is being criticized that the Bio Technology authority of India bill is being modified to pave way for the entry of foreign seed manufacturing companies & genetically modified crops. The clause to send to jail those who criticize the bill without proofs is making the intention of the govt clear. Kapil Sibal who acted as the advocate for a MNC, Abhishek Singhvi who is now arguing in favour of the same MNC in the courts and Sharad Power who is leading this campaign from the front appear to destroy the interests of the farmers (Eenadu, 29.4.10, p-4).
8) Janhit Manch of Mumbai filed a PIL in court demanding a ban on practicing and promoting astrology, numerology, Vastu shastra, Gemology and faith healing practiced by God men.
